Holiday Fun

In Grade 3, we have a tradition here at Fawn Hollow where students get to switch as a class, see each third grade teacher and do a different holiday activity. We call it Holiday Fun Day! However, with so many third grade classes, we now have Holiday Fun Days! Students will do 2 different holiday activities each day for the next three days. Students will do my activity when I can fit it in. Students have a great time and it's a way to not only learn but to relax and enjoy each other's company from the demands of the the third grade responsibilities. It's not what it used to be, folks!

Ask your child what they did today. I'm sure they had a good time!

Giving Thanks!

The class recently created a "quilt" which is on the bulletin board outside the room. Students wrote and drew a few things they were thankful for. Using Wordle, students then created a word cloud of things they were thankful for this season. Many of you saw the work during conferences, but please feel free to take a quick peek at the board - especially if you'll be in the building for the Turkey Trot.

I wish you all a wonderful Thanksgiving! Share your Thanksgiving stories or customs under comments.

Our 44th President of the United States is.........

Wordle is a site that will make word clouds like the one shown using Barack Obama’s acceptance speech. You can type or paste words into a box and the program will do the rest.

Halloween

FYI - On Friday, October 31, we will be celebrating Halloween with our annual class party and school parade. Our class party will be from 1:45 - 2:30 and the parade will start at 2:30. Weather permitting, we will be parading around the outside of the school. Parents are welcome to come and stand outside to watch the children as they parade. Unfortunately, I can not invite you to the class party due to restrictions with regards to the number of people in the building.

After the parade, parents will be allowed to pick-up their child from the classroom.

Monroe Schoolhouse

Hi Everyone!

Tomorrow, October 8, we will be going to the Monroe Schoolhouse. Mrs. Zorenna, a former teacher from Monroe El. and now on the Board of Ed. will teach the children about life in the days of the one room schoolhouse and what it was like for children to attend school before the age of backpacks, electric pencil sharpeners, wipe-off boards, computers and state mandated assessments!

Children will need to bring a snack that they will eat while on the trip. We will be back at Fawn Hollow for our regular lunch period. We will go rain or shine and students need to dress warmly as half of the time will be spent outside - unless it rains!
